You may have noticed we happen to feature beautiful photography on our site. We’re lucky.
We, the gals at offTRACT, have the pleasure of knowing and working with some amazingly talented people.
On behalf of the team, I am happy to introduce to you the newest member of our posse, Kaylynne Kroshus, an incredible photographer in the Reno-Tahoe area.
The photos featured in this post are some of Kaylynne’s favorites.
She is one of the sweetest gals you’ll ever meet with an insane ability for not only capturing authentic moments, but making them appear even more amazing than they were in real life.
We hope you’ll enjoy getting to know Kaylynne in her interview below as much as we have.
[Q] Long before you became a successful photographer, what did you do?
[A] My very first job was at the young age of 15 years old when I coached a beginning girls gymnastic class. I LOVED that job and got really close to all of the girls I coached. It was then that I realized I needed a job where I had the opportunity to work with people and build relationships with them. Since then, I have also worked at Farmers Insurance, a Children’s Dentist office and now as a full-time photographer! I grew up in Reno and took photography class at the local college. Other than those few classes in college, I am mostly self-taught. I have also learned a lot from shooting alongside and taking classes from some of my favorite photographers around the country.
[Q] What made you decide to start a career in photography?
[A] My interest in photography was sparked 6 years ago when I was pregnant with my son. I am a total sap and I wanted every moment of his life to be documented with beautiful pictures. It was then that I took a few classes and started photography as a hobby. I fell in love with capturing special moments, as well as the creative aspect of it, and knew that this was something I would enjoy doing for others as well. I started my business 3 years ago, and I have loved it more than I thought possible.
[Q] What do you do when you have a night to yourself?
[A] A night to myself? I didn’t know those existed! But ya know, I wouldn’t have it any other way! On the nights my children are in bed and my husband is gone, I am most definitely sitting at my computer, with Pandora blaring, munching on snacks and editing.
[Q] What surprises people most when they meet you?
[A] When people first meet me, they are very surprised at how young I look. I definitely have a baby face and often get confused for a high schooler! They are even more surprised when I mention that I have been married for almost 7 years and have two kids, the oldest who is in Kindergarten.
[Q] What’s the best advice you have ever received?
[A] It’s hard to pin point the absolute best advice I have ever received, but in relating to starting my own business, no one believed in me and offered more encouragement than my husband. He constantly has reminded me that I am in control of my life and with hard work, I can do whatever I put my mind to. Without him, I would have never taken my dream and turned it into a successful business!
[Q] If time and money were no issue, what would you do?
[A] If money and time were no issue, I would still be doing exactly what I am doing right now!! I love being a mom and I love photography!
[Q] What’s your claim to fame?
[A] My work has been featured on blogs such as On the Go Bride, Tahoe Unveiled and now offTRACT! I also recently had one of my images used in a billboard in town.
